Bray Rough Sleepers Count

Bray Rough Sleepers Count

I took part in the twice-yearly Bray Rough Sleepers Count last Friday.  An early start at sunrise with community groups and volunteers. I was the only elected member there and was part of the Bray Head team. Across the count we came across approximately ten people sleeping rough on the Bray Head.

The count is a formal exercise and the data helps build a more accurate picture of homelessness in Bray and informs resource allocation and local service provision. It was also a chance to carry out welfare checks and signpost anyone not already known to services.  Whilst this does not capture the hidden homeless, for example, people that are couch surfing, it does help us reach some of the most vulnerable.

It's important work and really helps me understand what is happening within my community.
