The Bray Transport Committee met recently to discuss progress on key transport initiatives for the area. In attendance were myself, Cllr Erika Doyle, Town Administrator Brian Wildes, Town Engineer Stephen Fox, and a representative from the National Transport Authority. Apologies were received from An Garda Síochána.
The most significant development from the meeting was the official confirmation from the NTA that funding has been allocated for a full transport plan for the Bray Municipal District. This is welcome news and represents a meaningful step forward in addressing the transport needs of our growing community. The tendering process to appoint a contractor to complete the study is now underway.
Unfortunately, the meeting could not proceed as planned. No representative from Wicklow County Council's Roads Department attended, despite the main agenda items requiring their input. We had been expecting updates on the active travel projects currently underway in Bray, along with status reports on other transport initiatives. Without these updates, the committee was unable to conduct substantive business, and the meeting was abandoned.
A follow-up meeting has been scheduled for 16th April to address the outstanding agenda items. I will be seeking assurances that the necessary representatives attend so we can receive the updates our community deserves on these important projects.
I'll continue to keep constituents informed as progress is made.
