Herbert Road Celebrations

Herbert Road Celebrations

I went to the celebration evening for the Herbert Road campaign.  The event recognised and thanked all the people that were involved in the campaign.

Wicklow County Council listened and worked with the community to stop the closure of the Herbert Road junction onto the N11. The closure would have negatively impacted on an already traffic clogged Bray.  The campaign asked the council to find a different solution to closing the Herbert Road Junction, whilst supporting the need for a bus corridor along the N11.

It is easy to complain

We all do it. Something's not working, so we shake our heads, vent to a neighbour, maybe post about it online. Then nothing changes.

Herbert Road was different. A group of people decided to do more than complain. They organised, they made their case, and they turned individual frustration into a collective voice.

Why the council listened

The council didn't act because one person shouted the loudest. It acted because a whole community made the same point, clearly and consistently, over time.

The takeaway

Change doesn't happen just because people are unhappy. It happens when people act on that unhappiness, together. Herbert Road is proof that organised neighbours get results. Well done to everyone who put in the work.
