Bray’s seafront is one of our town’s best-loved public spaces. But like all shared spaces, it needs regular care and attention to keep it safe, welcoming, and looking its best.
Recently, I raised a number of concerns with Wicklow County Council about the condition of parts of the residential side of the seafront. These included:
A noticeable build-up of glass and litter along footpaths and grass areas
Overgrown weeds that were affecting the overall appearance
Faded yellow boxes that needed repainting for clarity and access for deliveries to businesses.
Planting that had grown too high, blocking views of oncoming traffic — a potential hazard for road users and pedestrians
I’m really pleased to say that the council responded promptly. Thanks to Stephen Fox, Town Engineer, and the ground staff team, these issues have now been addressed. Litter and glass have been cleared, overgrowth has been trimmed back, and visibility along the road has improved.
These kinds of basic improvements might seem small, but they make a big difference — not just to how the area looks, but how it feels to live in and visit.
Thanks again to the council staff for taking action and helping to keep Bray seafront a safe, attractive, and enjoyable place for everyone.
